Finally Microsoft office apps are free to download on iOS so, you would not require to subscribe for Office 365 to access some features of various office apps.
Latest update splits Office programs such as the Word, Excel and Powerpoint into separate apps. These apps also support Dropbox integration for cloud storage.
Free offerings come up with some limitations also. You need Office 365 subscription to access some great features of these office apps. Some of the features are adding columns and custom tables in Excel, modifying a document from portrait to landscape format in Word & Presenter view in PowerPoint.
However If you are not bothered of using advanced features & want to use only basic features that are available in free office apps then You should go for it.
